For me, these alleyway images map a personal cartography of freedom—spaces overlooked, yet teeming with imagination. Murals, scraps, shadows, and colour form a quiet, colour-laden refuge where the city loosens its grip. Here, I find humour, memory, and escape, and a connection to my childhood in Calcutta, where alleyways meant freedom and respite. Each frame captures the unguarded poetry of Toronto’s hidden, breathing edges.

Gun Roze is a Toronto-born Fine Art Photographer, whose essential photographic knowledge was gained throughout his thirty-five year career as a Master Analog Printer for professional photographers and artists. His expertise brought him work opportunities in Vancouver, San Francisco and New York City. He has received two artist grants and has had eleven solo exhibitions in Toronto over the past nine years. Gun’s daily practice is his street-based photography. He regularly works on personal projects and has a great passion for his portrait sessions. Gun approaches the photo shoots with his extraordinary subjects as creative collaborations.
