Grace

Over the last several months, we have all been trying to remain calm and positive in the face of so much global uncertainty.  My own creative response has been grounded in an intense curiosity in the natural world, specifically in its markers of resilience, strength, and adaptability.  This quiet, knowing ability to carry on has been the driving inspiration behind the development of my current body of work.

For me, grace is about recognizing, accepting and following this kind of knowing; it’s about faith, being courageous, open minded and kind.  Grace is a state of being that allows us to invite more growth, joy and gratitude into our lives.

Kara McIntosh is a contemporary Canadian artist who explores the rhythms and patterns of the natural world in an abstracted style. Using strong, assured brushwork, Kara examines both our individual and collective experiences of place through her own process of immersion, observation and response.  Painted elements are rendered in both loose impasto and careful brushstrokes.  With bright, unexpected colours peeking through the compositions, Kara’s work offers a refreshing take on landscape subject matter.

Kara lives near Nottawa and works full time from her Tremont Studio in the Creative Simcoe Street district of Collingwood, ON.  Her work can be found in many private collections in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia.
