Thank You For Destroying My Life

Ruminations on ruination. Through destruction of the built form in a post apoplectic world, the subjective experience becomes the objective reality. The concrete is no longer concrete. Dissolution of the container into its contents. In the coffin of civilization, chaos begets the cradle. Our tendency towards violence scrapes the earth. The tailings of our collective ruin. Stones are cast and bricks are thrown. The sky falls and the horizon shatters into fragments of distorted tessellation. By design. The outcome is certain. There is no stated solution. (Don’t look up.)

Opening Night

It is wonderful to watch a thing being made, with all the attendant wrestling of mind and muse, and then see it make such an impact on people in its debut. This show is one of those. It inspired conversations and connections to ideas. It is a discussion for our time and after all, isn’t that what art is supposed to do?

The evening and the work were captured by long-time friend and documentary photographer @mister._.rain who also contributed to the Legoscape ruination.
